A video of a police officer using a Taser on 26-year-old black man Marcus Coleman in Denton, Texas, was recorded and posted on Twitter on Wednesday and has gone viral overnight. The police department press release and reason for using the Taser may be at odds with what’s seen in the video.

I love this because it’s so completely at odds with stereotypes of “medieval” technology. It’s actually kind of over-complicated compared to many later instruments, in terms of the mechanisms.
